Michellie Charvat.

Michellie Charvat was all smiles last week when she was told she had been granted an inaugural award in curatorship.

The Mentorship in Exhibition Operations for Indigenous Artists has been created to enable an indigenous artist to learn about exhibition operations in a hands-on way.

Ms Charvat is a young indigenous artist studying a Diploma of Arts at La Trobe University, Bendigo.

“I particularly love ceramic work and painting. I use a range of techniques,” she said.

“I also like to express my spirituality.”

Michellie dreams of becoming a curator and opening her own gallery, in Bendigo, one day.

During the four-month part time position Michellie will work on the Knuldoorong exhibition held at Dudley House during NAIDOC Week, July 5-15, 2018.
