SIX Bendigo Pioneers young guns have been selected to participate in this weekend’s Vic Country under-17 futures game.

Aaron Gundry, Flynn Perez, James Schischka, Riley Ironside, Brodie Kemp and Kobe Brown will represent the Pioneers in a match that has launched the careers of plenty of future stars.

The match will be played on Sunday at Melbourne’s Ikon Park after several training sessions spanning the weekend.

Schischka and Gundry both featured in Vic Country’s under-16 squad last year while Perez has impressed for the Pioneers and Sandhurst.

The first game in the futures series double header begins at 10am on Sunday.

Meantime, draft prospects Jacob Atley and Zane Keighran have both been named to take part in AFL Victoria’s state draft combine.

South Bendigo ruckman Kieran Strachan has also scored an invitation.

The Pioneers return to action against Greater Western Victoria Rebels next Sunday as part of a TAC Cup triple header at Ballarat’s Eureka Stadium.
