Malaysian food odyssey

The Malaysian locals have a form of greeting the same as we have “Hello.  How are you?” Theirs translates to “Hello.  Have you eaten?” 
I had one answer during my recent holiday there and it was, you guessed it.... “Yes”. 
I feel like there was no food left untouched.  That’s exaggerating of course. 
There were things such as pig intestine soup which just didn’t sound all that appealing to me. 
But, when breakfast includes beef rendang with roti, soup and noodles, it gave me a total of 14 extra meals where I could taste new things. 
No toast or cereal for me which is good as I can’t stand them anyway. 
We also managed to avoid food poisoning which was no mean feat considering that in most of the hawker venues where we ate the food was put into bain marie dishes, with no bain marie in sight.
Who knows how long the food sat out there at luke warm, bug-attracting temperatures when the outside weather was 30 degrees day and night. 
Wish I’d never done that food-handling course. 
But it appears the years of training in eating
food past it’s best-before date has held us in good stead.
