A WEEK after visiting Shane Warne in the Victorian dressing rooms, Jason Dean had another surprise sporting visit this week.

While in rehabilitation, Jason was visited by a group of players from his favourite AFL team – Richmond.

While his family knew about the visit for weeks, they managed to keep it quiet long enough to allow the popular former footballer to enjoy the moment to its fullest.

Will Thursfield and Brent Hartigan gave Jason’s children Richmond bags full of Tigers gear such as signed balls, T-shirts, stickers and jumpers.

The club has invited Jason and the family to a special training and coaching session when he is well enough.

The father of three became a quadriplegic in a freak fall in a jumping castle earlier this year.

An appeal has been set up to help Jason and his family when he finally comes back to Bendigo next year.

In true Jason style, he is not only thinking of himself but is doing his best to annoy nurses by requesting they shave a moustache on his usually hair-free face in support of the Movember charity. The campaign to raise funds for Jason and his family has begun in earnest with an auction on February 17 at the Eaglehawk Secondary College from 6.30pm.

As well as a signed Stuart Appleby golf bag and Melbourne Victory soccer ball, Melbourne Tigers and Australian Boomers basketball star Andrew Gaze has donated a signed pair of his shoes.

Local electrical business DeAraugo and Lee Electrical also stood up this week and donated $1000 to the appeal.

The Windemere Hotel also ran a raffle and raised $700.

They have also donated some drinks for the auction.
