BENDIGO police will host an open day for the public to visit the new police station on Monday, March 12 between noon and 2pm.

Visitors will be able to tour the new station and a number of displays will be set up, including a highly visible SMART Car (Special Mobile Anti Road Toll), police motorcycles, a booze bus, patrol vehicles and the new mobile police facility.

The new facility includes the uniform branch, Criminal Investigation Unit, Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Unit, Field Services Unit, Traffic Management Divisional Intelligence Unit and divisional headquarters.

The station is also the largest ‘green’ police station in Victoria and has a number of sustainable initiatives.

These include a self-ventilating atrium, generator, 40,000 litre water tank and a grey water system.
