Rising petrol prices
BENDIGO motorists received yet another petrol shock on Wednesday, with prices jumping almost 20 cents a litre.
Prices jumped from $1.25 a litre to $1.45.9 at some stations on Wednesday morning.
At one stage, a drive along High Street towards Kangaroo Flat saw prices range from $1.45.9 at BP and Shell Golden Square to $1.25 at Apco at Kangaroo Flat.
Within 15 minutes of the Bendigo Weekly spotting the Apco price, it jumped to $1.39.
RACV government relations manager David Cumming said the price jump was due to an increase of the wholesale price of oil.
“The wholesale price is about $1.30 so Apco were selling at below cost price,” he said.
“It is good they only increased to $1.39. That shows the other places were putting the four-cent-a-litre shopping docket price into the overall price.
“Therefore it is better to go to Apco and save the docket for another day.”
Mr Cumming said such jumps were also being noticed in Horsham and Wodonga.
“This would have been a directive from Melbourne,” he said.
