Acting CEO to take over
Craig Niemann has been appointed the City of Greater Bendigo's new chief executive officer.
He joined the Ccouncilo as the director of Organisation Support in September, 2005.
Prior to that, he was the CEO of the Shire of Loddon from 1997 to 2005.
Mr Niemann started his long career in local government in1983 at the former Borough of Eaglehawk before taking up the position of assistant shire secretary at the Shire of East Loddon in 1986.
In 1995 he became the deputy shire secretary and held this position until the local government amalgamations of 1995 which saw the creation of the Loddon Shire Council.
He was appointed director Corporate Services of the Loddon Shire Council in 1995 and in 1997 was appointed chief executive officer.
Mr Neimann has played a key role in facilitating and encouraging the self reliance of local communities and has a strong focus on community engagement and improving services.
Mr Niemann was a Board member of the Inglewood & Districts Health Service for ten years from 1995 to 2005 serving as Vice President for 2 years. During this time he was involved in the major development of the Inglewood Hospital.
He has also been a Board member of the Goldfields Library Corporation since 1997, representing both the Loddon Shire Council and the Greater Bendigo City Council. During this time the Library has achieved a sustainable financial position and is experiencing strong growth in membership and borrowings.
Mr Niemann has a Master of Business Administration from Deakin University and a Bachelor of Business – Local Government from RMIT.
He is married to Jill and has three children – Madeline, Dooley and Sidney.
