Golden Square home damaged
MOST Bendigonians welcomed the slight improvement in the city’s weather early this week, all bar one anyway.
Tuesday’s temperature peaked at a little over 30 degrees, with a slight wind with gusts up to 39 kilometres an hour, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.
However, Golden Square resident Janelle Simmonds had a different story.
While sitting at her computer at 2pm on Tuesday, she noticed a short, strong breeze blowing in her curtains.
“All of a sudden it got louder and there was a loud crash,” she said.
“It was a really loud noise and I could hear the tiles moving on the roof.
“I went outside and looked up on the roof and saw half of it had been destroyed.”
A quick phone call to her landlord saw the plumber
immediately dispatched to check it out.
“He said it looked like a bomb had gone off up there,” Janelle said. It was a real freak thing and I was shocked. I didn’t know what was going on.”
All Janelle and her mum are now hoping is that it doesn’t rain. “Not much chance of that happening,” Janelle said.
