Bendigo trams for Australia Day
WHAT better way to celebrate Australia Day than taking a ride on the special Vintage Talking Tram Shuttle.
Trams have played a major part in Bendigo’s history and they will revisit their past glories by transporting the public to the Australia Day celebrations at Lake Weeroona this Saturday.
Tramways superintendent with Bendigo Tramways Darren Hutchesson said the tram shuttles were a perfect way for locals to get around town.
“It’s great to see the locals on the tram, we see a lot of visitors, but by running regular shuttles, we are seeing a lot more Bendigo people on board especially when they realise how convenient it is,” he said.
Free car parking is available at Central Deborah Gold Mine and the Joss House.
“It makes sense, especially at events such as Australia Day where parking can be an issue,”
Mr Hutchesson said.
“People can park their car at Central Deborah or in town and
escape the hassle of trying to find a car park.”
Depot foreman with Bendigo Tramways Tim Blythman agrees the shuttle is a great value way of experiencing the Vintage Talking Tram.
“Five dollars for adults and three dollars for children for unlimited rides on the Vintage Talking Tram is great value, especially for those who haven’t experienced the Vintage Talking Tram before,” he said.
The Australia Day Vintage Talking Tram shuttle will be departing all tram stops every 20 minutes from 9am until 4pm.
Tickets will be valid all day offering unlimited rides.
