Community Road Safety Grants program
THE Traffic Accident Commission launched its new Community Road Safety Grants program this week, aiming to further assist communities across Victoria address local road safety issues.
TAC senior manager of road safety David Healy said some of the most effective strategies were often created and implemented by local people.
“It is the responsibility of all road users to make our roads safe and it’s the people who live in the community and use the roads, who can be often best equipped to identify specific problems and implement solutions,” he said.
Funding up to $20,000 will be open to community-based projects conducted by not-for-profit groups that can show a specific problem and create a project to address it.
The TAC will hold information sessions at regional centres in February.
