Bendigo Music Fiesta this weekend
Music will fill the summer evenings this weekend with the Bendigo Music Fiesta event. Bendigo’s most glorious locations will be transformed with live music from some of Australia’s best performers. The Kransky Sisters have packed up their family baggage and are heading to Bendigo. They will perform at The Capital on Friday at 7.30pm (sold out) and 9.30pm. In their smash-hit show, Heard It On The Wireless, the quirky siblings openly share their darkly funny family stories. They embellish the comical essence of their tales with homespun versions of popular tunes that they’ve heard on their old wireless. The self-confessed spinsters offer vocal harmonies and offbeat humour as they accompany themselves on an old 60s reed keyboard, Tuba, kitchen pot, toilet brush and fervently shaken tambourines. The Kransky Sisters cover songs from Nana Mouskouri, The Carpenters, SugaBabes and Pink, to Skyhooks, Steppenwolf, ACDC, Eurythmics and Talking Heads. The entertainment continues on Saturday with three of Australia’s finest female singers. Renée Geyer and Vika and Linda Bull promise to bring sheer talent to the vineyard setting of Balgownie Estate Winery from 7.30pm. Both acts are well-regarded for their strong and soulful voices. Renée Geyer is a unique talent, not a singer whose career is dependant on yesterday or tomorrow’s hit song, but someone who lives for her next performance, on stage or on record. Vika and Linda Bull are two of Australia’s most admired singers; sisters who are adored not only for their glorious voices and warm, enticing stage presence but also for their obvious love of music and each other. Then on Sunday at 1pm Coco’s Lunch will provide an afternoon of pure bliss at the Goldmines Hotel. These singer-composers are renowned for their extraordinary song writing, harmonies and onstage chemistry. These live performances are part of the second Bendigo Summer Fiesta event; a 100 day celebration of the best of Bendigo, produced by City of Greater Bendigo. Art, music, food and wine, cultural performances and more have been adding to the vibrancy of Bendigo this summer. Tickets to all three shows are available by contacting The Capital on 5434-6100.
