FORMER politician and intellectual Barry Jones will be the guest speaker at the local branch of the  University of the Third Age next week.
Dr Jones will hold a seminar titled: From the Provinces to the Universal: The Thinking Reed.
The seminar will be based on his new book, A Thinking Reed, a collection of his thoughts, actions and achievements based around the claim the basic principle of morality is to think well.
A Thinking Reed follows Dr Jones’ life from TV quiz champion through successful abolisher of capital punishment in Australia to global prophet in his 1982 book Sleepers Awake.
Dr Jones was the president of the Labor Party and is now a well known professor at the University of Melbourne.  
Dr Jones will speak at the McKay Theatre, La Trobe University, from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday, March 27.
