Ongoing support
THE Bendigo and Region Skilled Migration Program has launched a range of new marketing material that will be used to heavily promote the initiative to an international audience.
The Bendigo Skilled Migration Program began in 2004 with an aim to attract and retain new migrants to the region to help address skilled labour shortages.
The project identifies the skill shortages which exist in Bendigo and works closely with local businesses and industry to assist employers to make connections with skilled and trained staff from overseas, when their needs cannot be met locally.
The project also provides ongoing support and assistance to new migrants, and to local businesses and industry who have recruited new migrants.
The program is about to move in a new direction.
The new stage will focus heavily on employment outcomes and the City of Greater Bendigo council will work closely with the Loddon and Mount Alexander shire councils to source the most appropriate and relevant people from overseas.
The new marketing material is the first step in this new direction.
It has been developed with the needs of local employers firmly in mind and also in an effort to appeal to an overseas audience.
