Bert Dennis doing his bit for Legacy
LEGACY did a lot to help property developer Bert Dennis when he was younger, and now he is doing his bit to help them.
Dennis Family Homes is building a house in one of the city’s newest estates, with all profits from the sale going to legacy.
Construction of the house, at Lot 80, McIvor Forest Drive, Junortoun, is almost finished and home buyers will soon be able to see for themselves the house that has been built in aid of veterans’ families living in the  Bendigo area.
Local suppliers have also chipped in, as have local real estate agents LJ Hooker, Dungey Carter Ketterer and Bendigo Real Estate, who will advertise the property through the Bendigo Weekly.
Profits from the sale of the house will be donated to Legacy to help them continue their  work helping almost 1100 local war widows and their dependants.
Dennis Family Homes chairman Adele Levings said Legacy was a cause close to her heart.
“Our business’ founder, and my father, Bert Dennis, was supported by Legacy when he was a teenager after his father died as a result of injuries that he received in World War I,” she said.
“By building this home in aid of Legacy, we are able to give something back to the organisation that helped dad when he was young.”
The house features a large central open plan kitchen, meals and family room, a separate study and a separate lounge room.
Luxury items include evaporative cooling, floor and window coverings throughout, a 900 millimetre upright stove, glass splashback and a dishwasher, designer taps and square vanity basins in the bathroom.
The house will be open for inspection on weekends from tomorrow.
An auction is planned for Saturday, April 19 at noon and prior offers are invited.
