Daylight saving end impacts on garden
WHEN clocks are put back at the end of daylight savings, Coliban Water customers on the Stage 4 General Exemption should also change their outside watering time to between 6pm and 7pm.
Managing Director Geoff Michell said the change applied to the Coliban System which takes in the towns and areas of Bendigo, Castlemaine, Kyneton and Heathcote.
“The Stage 4 general exemption rules are all still the same, this is just a change in watering time,” Mr Michell said.
The general exemption was introduced in October last year allowing customers to water garden areas only for up to an hour on two designated days each week.
Mr Michell said grey water and rainwater should still be used as a first choice for keeping plants alive.
“The use of grey water and rain water makes a substantial difference to water conservation outside our homes, all customers should continue this practice no matter what level of water restrictions are in place.”
Odd-numbered properties can water for the designated hour on Sundays and Wednesdays, and even and un-numbered properties on Saturday and Tuesday.
All use of water outside should be by trigger nozzle hose, bucket or watering can.
All other towns across the Coliban Water Region remain on existing water restriction levels.
More information on restriction levels can be found on the Coliban Water website www.coliban.com.au
Towns affected by watering time change under Stage 4 General Exemption are: Bendigo, Axedale, Eaglehawk, Epsom, Goornong, Heathcote, Huntly, Kangaroo Flat, Maiden Gully, Marong, Raywood, Sebastian, Spring Gully, Strathfieldsaye, Tooborac, Castlemaine, Barkers Creek, Campbells Creek, Chewton, Elphinstone, Fryerstown, Guildford, Harcourt, Maldon, Newstead, Taradale, Yapeen, Kyneton, Malmsbury and Tylden.
