Kirsty Sword Gusmao visit
The City of Greater Bendigo and the Maubisse Friendship Community Committee will today host Kirsty Sword Gusmao – East Timor’s Ambassador for Education, wife of Prime Minister and former Bendigo resident.
The first public event An evening with Kirsty Sword Gusmao, a fundraiser organised by the Maubisse Friendship Community Committee, will be held tonight in the Bendigo Town Hall.
Maubisse Friendship Community Committee member Heather Ridge, who coordinated arrangements for Kirsty’s previous speaking engagement in 2002, expects great numbers.
“This is an opportunity to hear from an engaging speaker who’s had an incredible life. And from someone who has a strong connection with Bendigo,” Ms Ridge said.
The evening will start at 7:30pm.
Tickets are $25 and can be bought from The Capital box office. A framed Balibo Community Flag House opening program signed by Jose Ramos Horta, Xanana Gusmao, Steve Bracks and Kirsty Sword Gusmao will be auctioned on the night.
