Free support for community groups on offer
THE Bendigo Volunteer Resource Centre will hold a free Strengthening Your Community workshop at Heathcote next week.
This workshop will provide information for anyone who is already participating with a group or someone interested in being part of a committee.
Topics include how to chair a meeting and organising agendas, selecting committees, the role of the chair, secretary and treasurer, induction process for new committee members, useful resources to help your committee and keeping your committee healthy and focused.
The workshop is relevant for all types of committees; sporting, school, hall and recreation reserve committees, kindergarten and fundraising committees.
Continuing Education Bendigo chief executive officer Janet Russell will run the workshop.
Centre manager Helen Yorston said the workshop would give vital hands-on advice to groups that were essential to the community.
“Committees are a vital part of our community and without people volunteering their time to support these groups there can be no real community,” she said.
The workshop will be held on Wednesday, April 30, from 4pm to 6pm in the Guide Hall, High Street Heathcote.
