Home sale hits high spot of $1m+

Hargreaves Street market topper
A CENTRAL Bendigo property is believed to have sold for one of the highest prices for a single home in the city’s history.
After being on the market for five weeks, 451 Hargreaves Street last week sold for more than $1million.
Listing agent Andrew Cahill of DCK Real Estate said the property attracted several inspections and four offers.
“I think it is the dearest residential home sold in Bendigo,” he said.
“We had a property last year in Rowan Street that sold for $1.2 million, but that was two houses on two titles.”
Mr Cahill said the property’s inner-city location, the large block, high quality and tasteful renovations and priceless historic architecture were difficult to put a price on.
“You never know where properties like that fit into the market,” he said.
The sale was made through agent Mark O’Shea.

isn't it great to see value being placed on the grace and beauty of Bendigo's heritage architecture. it is only a generation since the desire to be modern led the people of this town to throw away so much of what made it special.
