Exhibition
WHAT Abracadaver WHEN Now untill May 25 WHERE Allan’s Walk Artist Run Space
A new exhibition opening at Allan’s Walk is sure to cause a stir among the living and the dead. Called Abracadaver, the exhibition is about death, magic and artifice. It includes objects, illustrations and photographic works that draw on aspects of the macabre and the sombre, as well as fun and whimsy. The exhibition features work by Linda McRae, a photographer and graphic designer whose work lives in the depth of the shadow and is revealed in the light and Lauren Brown, whose work revolves around structure/deconstruction and largely uses the colour red as her motif. Abracadaver focuses on that which is precious being hidden and then revealed in art, death and magic. The exhibition will also include a cemetery walk on Saturday, May 17, beginning at 11am from Allan’s Walk Artist Run Space.

Music
WHAT Ash Grunwald WHEN Friday, May 9 at the Palias, Hepburn Springs, or Saturday, May 10 at the Golden Vine Hotel TICKETS $15 at either venue It is too simplistic to describe Ash Grunwald as just a blues musician. His music is steeped in the Delta blues tradition of the legendary acoustic musicians who proliferated in pre-World War II America’s deep South and the giants of electric blues who shaped rock and roll. But it’s the young Victorian’s willingness to combine these influences with grooves and sounds common in contemporary music that sets him apart. With 2008 looking to be another monster year of international and national touring, Ash Grunwald is warming up with a couple of intimate Victorian regional shows. They are likely to be his only shows in the area for quite some time. Now, taking time off from putting the finishing touches on his new studio album (due for release in August this year) Ash is looking forward to entertaining audiences with all his favourite tunes and stories of his recent adventures.
