Bendigo artist Ellen Coyle’s work features in Foma; a live textile installation on the sidewalks of Melbourne during the Next Wave Festival.
Ellen’s textile and costume art weave
together patterns from the human and
animal worlds.
Ellen is a costume designer whose creations are designed with human motion in mind.
Combining sewing and embroidery techniques with notions of subtle choreographed movement, Coyle creates stories of human faith and folly, truth and lies, through her garments.
Ellen has a background in theatre and costume arts and is currently exploring the relationship between concept, character and costume.
The theme of her work is ‘Difference and Closeness’, and it explores the similarities and differences between people and their environment.
The Next Wave Festival is on from May 15 to 31.  For info on the full fesival program visit www.nextwave.org.au.
