Soccer still on the rise
By Alan Besley - Sport
Bendigo Amateur Soccer League
The strong growth of soccer across the region in recent years has been further boosted with the appointment of a full time zone development co-ordinator for the Loddon Mallee zone.
Dave Coward came to Victoria in 2005 after fulfilling roles in soccer administration and development in Western Australia.
Now he will be aiming to further boost the development of the game across central and northern Victoria.
In a joint announcement by the Bendigo Amateur Soccer League and Football Federation Victoria, the appointment of Coward will see him working closely with the Bendigo Amateur Soccer League, Moama Echuca Soccer Association and the Swan Hill Junior Soccer Association.
Among his responsibilities will be the roll out of national initiatives such as the small sided games, delivery of school football competitions and carrying out talent identification duties and coaching pathways.
In the meantime, Colts United went on a goal scoring spree when they journeyed north to face Swan Hill.
Phil Berry, Alf Longano and Sam Gower each booted four goals for Colts as they recorded a significant percentage boosting victory.
