WHEN the fit-out is complete, a bus to ferry the Righteous Pups around town will be ready to roll.
“It means we can keep our dogs and also our humans coming to school,” managing director Joanne Baker said.
“It’s cost us close to $30,000 to do it, and we are so grateful to the Lions people for supporting us to do this.”
The Lions Club of Bendigo donated $10,000 towards the bus re-fit.
Lions member Ken Martin said the club was keen to assist Righteous Pups continue their work with children and adults with disabilities as well as old and socially isolated people in the community.
Ken and Graham MacDonald were on hand at
the W&F Sheetmetal in Kangaroo Flat, with Dixie
the labrador, to inspect the work on what Ms Baker
is calling the Puppy Bus.
“We’ve had strong support from the community, it’s been a big thing, especially our work with young people with disabilities,” Ms Baker said.
“We were faced with the question, how do we keep our tribe with us?
“With our new premises at Lockwood, that became even more urgent.
“We’re only a couple of weeks off, now, nearly ready to rock.”
