SEVERAL Bendigo schools have performed well at the Australian Schools Basketball Championship this week.
Girton Grammar’s junior boys team will play for gold today, while Bendigo Senior College’s senior boys team will fight for the bronze at Flora Hill.
The entire competition, including 110 teams from across the country and also from China and Singapore, has run smoothly, Bendigo Stadium’s sports and competition manager Craig Green said.
“It’s been excellent,” he said. “We’ve had strong attendances and the quality of basketball has been strong.”
One of the major talking points of the week has been 14-year-old Chinese centre, Qi Zhou.
At 217cm tall, he might just attract some NBA talent scouts in coming years.
