ON DECK
BENDIGO Jockey Club’s newest construction has been officially opened. Racegoers at Bendigo can now enjoy race viewing from a new $100,000 jointly funded deck opened this week by Racing Minister Denis Napthine.
After watching the running of the $60,000 Mosstrooper Steeplechase, Napthine said the deck was a great addition to the Bendigo racecourse.

BOROUGH CLOSE

EAGLEHAWK and Maryborough played the match of the split Round 10 of the Bendigo Football Netball League Senior Netball competition this week. Maryborough stormed home from a nine-goal deficit at three quarter time, to lose 46-43 to the Hawks.
Golden Square continued its strong form, downing South Bendigo 51-34.
In the weekend’s other game, Kangaroo Flat accounted for Castlemaine 61-23.

FOOTY TIGHT

IT now seems like a battle for second, third, fourth and fifth in the Bendigo Football Netball League’s Senior Football competition, with Golden Square almost unbackable for another flag.
The Bulldogs demolished second-placed South Bendigo by 117 points at the Queen Elizabeth Oval on Saturday.
The 23.21.159 to 6.6.42 result saw the Bloods slip to third, and possible fourth by the end of the split round next week.
Eaglehawk’s 40-point win over Maryborough saw the Eagles jump to second.
That is likely to change next week, when Strathfieldsaye hosts Gisborne at Tannery Lane.
Both teams are equal on points, and almost equal on percentage, with the winner likely to jump to second.
Kangaroo Flat had a narrow five-point win over Castlemaine, to help keep its slim finals chance alive.
Sandhurst faces Kyneton at Huntly on Sunday in the round’s final game.

LADY BRAVES WIN
THE Bendigo Lady Braves will be looking for their third win in a row against Hobart tonight in the South .
The Braves travel to the Apple Isle after wins against cellar-dwellers Frankston and Sandringham in the past two weeks.
The side downed Frankston 57-48 away on Saturday. A win will go a long way to securing the Brave’s top four chances.

BRAVES ON TOP
THE Bendigo Braves continue to top the SEABL East Conference Ladder, after two impressive wins on the weekend.
The Braves beat Frankston 81-89 on Saturday, and Sandringham  93-79 on Sunday.
The side faces another away double header this weekend, taking on Hobart and North West Tasmania on Friday and Saturday.
