With the start to Round Four being bathed in sunshine, Golden Gully made the most of the ideal conditions, compiling 258 against Axe Creek with five batsmen passing 30.

Geoff Maggs (48) was  the best of that group, while Axe Creek’s Jamie Morgan, Travis Nolan and Jason Carbone all returned the figures of 2/41.

Axe Creek commence this week at 1/12 with plenty of work to do.

United fought back after Maiden Gully got off to a promising start, restricting them to 162, with Mark Smith (54) the standout batsman again.

Best of the bowlers were Tim Gleeson, Steve Harris and Josh White who all took three wickets. United will resume on 1/73.

Last season’s two standout sides, Spring Gully and Mandurang, are playing out an enthralling contest with the reigning premier Spring Gully posting a competitive 227 thanks to some late order heroics from Nick Manley (46), after Ricky Mannix had earlier made a well compiled 79.

For Mandurang once again, Leigh Haw was best with the ball taking 6/53 off 20.1 overs, and they resume this week at 1/19 with the in form Matt Giri the player dismissed.

Emu Creek will be hoping their 225 will be enough runs against West Bendigo with Ash Raeburn (65) the best result, with good support from Frank McCarthur (47).

Brad McHugh, Douthie and Ken Bell all took two wickets each for West Bendigo.

In the final game to complete Round Four Marong will resume on 2/71 confident of making the extra 62 runs they need for victory after they dismissed Sedgwick for 132.
Jordan Knight (30) and Scott McKenzie (21) were the only batsmen to show any resistance against an attack led by Richard Murphy and Darren Cosgriff, who took three wickets each.
