FEMALE football will be celebrated on Saturday night as Strathfieldsaye and Kangaroo Flat’s women’s teams combine for a good cause.

The two clubs are fielding their first senior women’s sides this year, providing the inspiration for a Pink Sports Gala Night featuring three junior games and a senior match under lights.

Along with the footy there will be collection tins, a bake sale, raffle tickets and barbecue, raising funds for Breast Cancer Network Australia.

Supporters are being encouraged to attend in their own pink attire, from scarves to gloves and everything in between.

“This is a great opportunity to show the younger girls, and of course everyone else, what it means to have another woman’s back and that support can be in any shape or form,” Strathfieldsaye’s Angela Gamble said.

“We would love to see as many supporters as possible come along on the night to support this great cause, and cheer on the girls and women while they play our game of AFL in great spirit.

“So “pink up” and get behind our BCNA fundraiser.”

The junior matches start at 5.30pm, with the senior women and under-18s taking to the field at 7pm at Strathfieldsaye’s Tannery Lane Sports Complex.
