A TRUCK driver was killed when his vehicle rolled and crashed after veering off the Calder Alternate Highway near Ravenswood on Monday afternoon.
Investigators have been told a truck was travelling along Calder Alternative Highway when it left the road and crashed just after 1pm.
The driver, a 53-year-old Nyah West man and only occupant of the truck died at the scene. Police are yet to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the crash and the investigations remain ongoing.
The man’s death was the 106th fatality on the state’s roads this year, compared to 64 at the same time last year.
Police, other emergency services and the state government have expressed concern at the high number of fatalities recorded on the state’s roads so far in 2019, and motorists have been urged to slow down, drive to the conditions and respect the law.
