The Bendigo Brass Band have won the C Grade competition at the Victorian Bands League’s Bendigo competition.
The band, consisting of 35 members across a range of brass and percussion instruments, performed three pieces that wowed the adjudicator to beat four bands from across Victoria.
Competition was fierce, with the top four bands placing within three points of each other.
Bendigo Brass Band’s music director Cally Bartlett said that her main goal was to have a jubilant band and to ensure everyone was working together.
“One of the things the adjudicator said was that we were a happy band,” Ms Bartlett said.
“I was proud that he heard that we supported each other and that made me really happy.”
Months of hard work paid dividends for the band, with performers on cornet, tenor horn, baritone, trombone, tuba,
euphonium, the flugelhorn and percussion.
