KANGAROO Flat recorded a much needed win in last Sunday’s enthralling Bendigo Football Netball League indigenous round clash with South Bendigo.

Both sides were looking for their second win as they took to the hallowed Queen Elizabeth Oval for a match which saw the Roos in front all day.

Early in the vital third quarter, the visitors edged their way to a 20-point lead, but a determined South Bendigo refused to surrender and at three-quarter time the match was still up for grabs.

For the winners, Matt Boland kicked five majors and Matt Clifford three, as the Flat stopped the clock to record a 15.7 (97) to 12.13 (85).

Kaiden Antonowicz kicked six goals for the Bloods.

In other round seven results, Sandhurst scored a nail biting win over Golden Square, Strath thrashed Castlemaine with Lachlan Sharp booting 14 goals, Gisborne proved too strong for Eaglehawk at Canterbury Park, and Maryborough won over Kyneton at Princes Park.

This weekend, Kyneton hosts Eaglehawk, competition heavyweights Strathfieldsaye play South Bendigo at Triple M Park, cellar dwellers Castlemaine are at home to Golden Square, Kangaroo Flat will look to make it two wins in a row when it takes on Maryborough at Bendigo Mazda Oval, and Gisborne will play Sandhurst at Gardiner Reserve in what looks to be the match of the day.
