The event takes place on Saturday.

Bendigo Blue Light is hosting a youth skate competition on Saturday at the McKern Skate Park in Eaglehawk.

The Bendigo Blue Light committee have been working with a group of students from Eaglehawk Secondary College to organise the day.

The young people have put the day together with the assistance of the committee but all the ideas have come directly from the students.

Skip from Skip’s Skate Shop as well as Majors Bike shop in Eaglehawk have given their time and expertise.

The City of Greater Bendigo council and Freeza have assisted with many of the logistics of the day including hire of the skate park.

The Eaglehawk Rotary Club will provide a barbecue on the day with all proceeds going to the drought-affected farmers.

The day, which runs from 10am to 2pm, will see skateboard, BMX and scooter competitions with lots of great prizes, including $200 cash prizes, up for grabs.

Also, Hipopportunities will be putting on displays and the mobile Blue Light Disco trailer will be there.
