What’s the appeal with Jar Jar Binks? Was that a sneaker I just saw in space? And why did George Lucas decide to make Greedo shoot first?

These are the big questions that will no doubt be discussed at what should be Bendigo’s biggest ever meeting of Star Wars diehards this Saturday.

To celebrate the Blu-ray release of all six Star Wars films, local film making company Fatal Impact Productions will hold a gala screening from 11am, kicking off with The Phantom Menace

Using HD and big screen projection over more than 20 screens, the event will not only screen all six movies, but also the Clone Wars television series, outtakes from the films and yes, Caravan of Courage, to appease the completists.

Event organiser, film maker and FIP head honcho Aaron Stevenson said the event, featuring  was not to be missed.

“This event is really starting to gain momentum,” Aaron says.

“There has been huge responses from a number of Bendigo fans... the Darth Maul Sangria will be flowing.”

Stevenson, autuer of Welcome to Wherever You Are and Hoon Capital, still remembers watching Star Wars for the first time as a 12-year-old, like it was just yesterday.

“I first saw Star Wars on December 23 in Bendigo, I think this was the first screening here,” he says.

“It wasn’t just a movie, it was an event much different from earlier movie experiences such as Planet of the Apes and Logan’s Run

“This literally transported and fuelled the imagination.

“It had real people in an unreal world and an explosive feel good ending that made you sit up in your seat with goose bumps down your spine.”

There is no charge for entry, but costumes and champange are mandatory.

Fatal Impact Productions is located at 49-51 Garsed Street.
