A Bendigo architecture company has been chosen to redesign Bendigo’s iconic building as part of the $15.8 million upgrades to Bendigo and Eaglehawk train stations.
e+ Architecture has been charged with delivering a range of projects including the redevelopment of Epsom Primary School and restoring heritage buildings as part of the Bendigo Hospital precinct.
The station waiting area will be fitted with new seating and toilet facilities will be upgraded with new changing facilities and hoists for people with disabilities.
Once the design has been finalised, a contractor will be appointed to complete the station works in 2020.
Minister for Transport Infrastructure and Member for Bendigo East Jacinta Allan said these upgrades will ensure Bendigo Station provides a better, more comfortable experience.
“We’re making Bendigo Station better for everyone as we improve and preserve this historic building,” Ms Allan said.
Upgrades to Eaglehawk Station are ongoing and include an extension of the platform and a new 60-space car park with taxi and drop-off areas.
These works are expected
to be completed by the end of the year.
